Integrate the resources and give full control to the driver
As of today, flat towing an EV is not possible, preventing a growing number of vehicles from being used in motorhome trips. While a car hauler trailer can solve this issue, it removes the fun and benefits of an EV while adding the hassle of handling an extra trailer.
We have developed an innovative solution —eSherpa Mode (18/493,780 Pat. Pend.)— that allows an EV to connect to a motorhome like a plug-in hybrid extension. During the ride the EV is ON and it is in Drive. All built in safety systems for the electric motor and the high voltage battery are working as expected, only the driver is not sitting in the EV driver seat but the motorhome captain's chair, having all the visibility and control over the towed EV. This integration provides significant benefits to the motorhome driver.
Uphill Assist: The EV can assist the motorhome's engine, providing additional power, reducing strain on the engine and improving efficiency.
Regenerative Braking: On downhill stretches, the driver can engage regenerative braking, reclaiming most of the energy expended during the climb while also preserving the motorhome’s brakes.
Charge Management: No need to stop for charging—the driver has full control over the state of charge of the EV, seamlessly integrating it into the driving experience.
With eSherpa Mode, the motorhome driver effectively controls both the motorhome and the connected EV, creating a smooth and efficient travel experience.
